Sascha Ley

Sascha likes walking along unconventional paths in her musical output (vocals, composition) – oriented towards jazz, free improvisation, imaginary folklore and
occasional flirts with contemporary music.
In January 2007 she launches her first album "Travelling Light" featuring entirely her own compositions. Performed as a sextet, the album is a collection of modern jazz songs. In her band she is backed by some of Luxembourg's finest musicians and great talents from Germany.
In 2008 she first introduces a new trio project, KALIMA, with Anne Kaftan (ss, bcl) and pianist Laia Genc.
KALIMA is the proud winner of the 'Prix du public/Audience choice award' at the Tremplin JAZZ d'Avignon 2009.
The debut album 'Kalima' is released in February 2010.
Since 2011 she also works on a project with accordion player Nataša Gehl, exploring a slightly eccentric intersection of original compositions, imaginary folklore, jazz, popular, contemporary and improvised music.
Sascha also works extensively as an actress and has received the "efp European Shooting Star" award for Luxembourg at the Berlin Film Festival in 2005.
