BIOGRAPHY
Sarbel Michael was born on May 14, 1981 in London to a Greek Cypriot father and a Lebanese mother. He was raised in the British capital, where he was first introduced into the world of music and dancing. By the age of 22 years old, Sarbel had already established numerous leading roles at the English National Opera and the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, as well as in programs run by BBC and Channel 4, including "The Prince and the Goose Girl," "Carmen," "Toska," "Turandot" and "The Merchant of Venice" by William Shakespeare.
From a young age, Sarbel visited Cyprus and different parts of Greece. At the age of 18, he moved to Crete, Greece, for work. There, he sang at the Heraklion Palladium. Within this time period, he learned alot about the culture and his appreciation for the beauty of the Greek culture grew. He, then had to return to London, so that he could study Performing Arts at the University. He had fallen in love with the land of Greece and so, he eventually, moved back to Greece.
A chance meeting with musician Panagioti Stergiou and producer Gianni Doulami, drew him to Sony BMG. In 2004, he recorded the oriental hit "Se Pira Sovara," (based on the Arabic song Sidi Mansour), which first introduced him to the fans of Greece. He began making hit appearances in Greece, Cyprus and America. In 2005, he released his first solo album, entitled "Paraxeno Synesthima," which went gold. In July 2006, he released his second album, "Sahara". He has already recorded a duet with Sweden's pop star Cameron entitled Mi Chica in Spanish, English and Greek, which will be included on the Eurovision Edition of "Sahara."
