Sarah Winters

"Smallest Bones", the first full length album from Sarah Winters, was released on April 6th, 2010. On stage and in her recordings, Winters captivates people with her intriguing voice and intimate melodies, and her vocals on the album are immediate and exposed. She is venturesome vocally, using unusual ornamental phrasing and her Tori Amos-like vocal flip. Her lyrics are mostly true stories from relationships past, painfully honest and painfully intimate. The piano offers simple patterned parts and the cello, played by Baylen Wagner, acts as bass, guitar, and backup vocalist all at once. Kristopher Schoen uses intricate drum grooves partially inspired by hip hop. Sarah is shy on stage but makes up for it with her heartfelt commentary and sweet disposition.
