SAKSENA is a solo artist/song writer. His acoustic vibe
and smooth voice can reset a heartbeat. This short set
of songs marks the beginning of his maturation in the music world.
What's your story?
Including this point in my life, it has sort of led a binary path.
Artistry and design have filled my life as far as I can remember.
In my eyes, the two paths are actually one in the same. My
interests in the innovative field of architecture began when my
curiosity in structure met with a drive to design some ten years
ago. I used to take the bus with my parents into NYC to visit
family we had living there. The buildings were enormous and
complex. At the same time, my parents had put a guitar in my
hands because they thought I looked like a little Elvis. Needless
to say my parents enjoyed his music, but never really thought
I would become so immersed in music. I am a classically trained
guitarist, and have been playing for the past 17 years. About 5
years ago I found myself immersed in other styles. I have always
found relaxation in singing along to what I played in my own
privacy. I suppose the transition into song writing was natural.
Currently my day consists of booking local gigs, working on
my online store (www.cafepress.com/saksena) where I have
made my first CD and other SAKSENA merchandise available
for purchase.
My music is inspired by my own life and the lives of those that
are precious to me. A lot of my tracks deal with the love of a
woman while others deal with issues that I observe in daily life.
I do not have a particularly Indian sound to my music; however
I listen to and appreciate all types of music. My CD collection
has artists ranging from Nas to Bach. I only have the highest
level of respect for what people like Raghav or the 2point9
crew are doing. For them, they may have been influenced by
certain forces that help them express themselves in a certain
style. For me, I grew up listening to Elvis Presley, The Beatles,
Nat King Cole, BB King, and many more.
Musical influences range from classical guitar, to Morrissey, John Mayer, Crowded House, BB King, Pearl Jam, Chris Issak, and Norah Jones
