Originally from Osaka, Japan, Sachiko Nishiuchi currently resides in Sevilla, Spain to pursue her dance training in Flamenco. She was a resident artist of the highly acclaimed Susana di Palma's Zorongo Flamenco Dance Theatre in Minneapolis, and she is starting to perform in Japan and Spain. Sachiko has worked with the flamenco masters Manolete, Domingo Ortega, Pedro Cortes Jr., Grammy Award winner Jesus Montoya, and La Conja. She has performed in more than 10 U.S. states and Japan. She was awarded prestigeous Jerome Foundation's Travel and Study Grant for one of her frequent travels to Spain. Her choreography works were commissioned by the Walker Art Center and the Southern Theater (Minneapolis). Her original Flamenco theater "Hiroshima—A Night Dreamt and a Day Flashed to Burn" was co-presented by Intermedia Arts in 2007. Her most recent work "The Apple Tree" was co-presented by The Walker Art Center and The Southern Theater and premiered in 2009 as a part of Momentum: New Dance Works series which was featured in New York Times as a must-see show.
