Since the early 90s the South has been making a name for itself in Hip-Hop. Southern music is now a dominant force on the charts. At the forefront of the takeover is Georgia, which has spawned such groundbreaking and successful acts as Outkast, T.I., Lil Jon, Ludacris, Jermaine Dupri and many more. On the heels of these accomplished artists is up-and coming rapper, Rye Tye. This Decatur emcee is GRAMMY-WORTHY with a taste of cool.

With a rhyme style all his own, but a sound that is definitely Georgia, Rye paints a vivid and heartfelt picture of life as a youngster coming up in the South.

Rye Tye promises he can bring the heat with the best of them. He cites Nas and Kanye West as some of his inspirations, but he adds, i feel like my music is about to change alot of shit! I'm not the average artist "I make forever lasting music" quote me on that. Rye Tye says his sound will appeal to the world.

My music is just a reflection of who I am ARTISTIC, SOULFUL, & FRESH

The man born Ryan Shelton/ The youngest of three children, he began rapping at the tender age of 7. Coming up I always wanted to be involved with music, he explains. As a child he looked up to rap legend Big Daddy Kane and grew to admire other seminal artists such as Tupac and Jay-Z.

As a teen Rye was kicked out of school and sent to boot camp in Savannah. In this military-style setting Rye got the chance to turn turmoil into triumph. It was no TV at camp. I started to really take my rhyming seriously. With the challenge to stay out of trouble for six months, Rye never looked back. He honed his skills and caught the attention of music producer Jabari Winfree of Suga Slums Productions and acclaimed film and music video director Bryan Barber.

Rye Tye says his short-term goal is to sell some records, get some exposure. But he has his sights set on the business side of the music. I want to make good music, but the entrepreneur in me has to have a vehicle to get out.

Like so many of his hometown predecessors, Rye Tye aims to do the ATL proud. With his innovative blend of beats and rhymes this native son should have no problem doing just that.
