Ryan Scroggins and the Trenchtown Texans is a mix of ska, reggae, country, folk, jazz, swamp, roots and world music type stuff. We've had this band together playing officially since The first 3 floors of ska in LA. Which was in November of 2006. I couldn't do this without my closest and dearest friends, my band mates. We've been together around 3 + years now and good things keep happening every day. We've already been lucky enough to share the stage with tons of great acts such as: The Skatalites, Toots and the Maytals, The Aggrolites, Chris Murray, The Slackers, Fish Bone, King Django, Hub City Stompers, Westbound Train, Green Room Rockers, Jimmy Buffet (believe it or not), Billy Bob Thorton and many more to come. We released our first album on Megalith Records in August of 2007. We are also on a Megalith Euro-sampler, a Texas Ska compilation based in San Antonio and a Version City compilation that are all slated to be out in the near future. At the present time we are working on putting out our second and third full length albums. These projects should be completed around mid 2010. Our first full length record has been released in Europe as well. As of recent my organ and a lot of our other musical equipment was stolen which in turn brought about a natural evolution to the band. I am now playing guitar, harmonica and kazoo instead of organ. We also have had rotating line-ups for the last 5 months, with the core of the band staying the same and additional instruments such as : guitar, banjo, lap steel, accordion, fiddle, etc.being added as well. I feel this is a natural progression to the evolution of our music as it has become much more roots or singer song writer like, much more in the pocket with an overtone of the southern heritage here in Houston .As for myselfYes I do I still use this as my personal page. I am a herpetologist/reptile keeper at the Houston zoo. Wild huh? I tattoo for a living as well. I've been tattooing now for about 14 years. the tattoo shop I work at is called SECRET TATTOO in Houston Texas. It is period point blank the BEST tattoo shop in Houston bar none. Come by and see for yourself.Very nostalgic! I get my influences out of my own head. Unlike a lot of tattooers these days. If you'd like to book an appointment with me you will need to email me as I only tattoo @ three days a week and I am booked usually a month or two outusually. When I'm not at the zoo, tattooing or out with the band I like to spend the majority of my time with my beautiful wife Ashley. She's my guiding light and inspiration away from evil. I also paint. Mostly water color traditional American tattoo stuff. I like to read more about herpetology when I can.to study up. Building terrariums has become a recent interest. I love going to the museums in town. Lastly but by no means least I like to kick back and chill with my close friends who all feel neglected and mistreated because free time is something that is becoming extinct in my world! HA! - Ryan Scroggins
