I LOVE dirty beats and bass-lines. music that makes me MOVE! Funk, soul, blues, pop, electro, hip hop, R&B, breaks, & anything fresh that pushes boundaries…have no fear.
I love wordplay, there's always a new melody in my head. The things that inspire me to write songs are the complexities and subtleties of relationships.How men and women react/interact, respect/disrespect, love/hate, cheat/lie, give/take etc…
The most fascinating thing to me is human nature…
I've spent the last few years working & writing for a lot of different artists, mainly UK, but also in America. 2011 I am working on my own album… collaborating with some amazing people, so LOOK OUT!

Ruth-Anne Cunningham (aka RAC or ROOOOTS!) is an impressively talented singer/songwriter/producer from Dublin. She is 100% involved in all her music, loves constructing all parts. RAC is dynamic, soulful, and has an uncanny knack of crafting clever pop songs that get under your skin. With her rich velvety voice, broad range, this girl seriously feels the funk…She has pocket & bounce to her delivery.
Now based between London and LA, she blasted into the songwriting world when she co-wrote Jojo's hit single with Billy Steinberg "Too Little too late" it went from number 66 to number 3 on the Billboard hot 100 chart in just one week in America. It went on to be a worldwide smash in over 30 countries. Nice starting point.
She has written and has had songs recorded by numerous artists around the world including Katharine McPhee, Leona Lewis, winner of Finnish pop idol Anna Abreu and winner of South African idol Jody Williams, Australian band Shakaya and more. In 2007 she had songs on 3 platinum selling albums in the US and in Europe and is officially Ireland's youngest songwriter ever to achieve these honors. She was awarded with an ASCAP songwriters best pop award at the 24th annual ASCAP pop awards 2007 for 'Too little too late"
In 2010 she had a handful of top 10 charting singles in the UK with British pop sensation Pixie Lott's platinum selling album – RAC has the title track "Turn it up", album track "My Love", and the most recent hit single "Broken Arrow"
In the years preceding this, in May 2008 Ruth-Anne independently released "Take me away" in Ireland. It went straight to number 13 on its first week and was the highest new entry, she made it to that chart position on digital sales alone. The single was a huge radio airplay success.being named "single of the week" at the biggest radio station in Ireland RTE's 2fm.
Her own arrangement of cover "kiss/american boy" made it on to the FM104's bestest bits compilation album and she is the only unsigned artist to have made the album.
Whilst she spent 2010 writing for and collaborating with many of the UK's hottest new stars & biggest artists and producers, (Leona Lewis, Sugarbabes, Labirynth, Ed Drewett, Devlin, She often writes with X-Factor winning artists Alexander Burke, Cher Lloyd)
Past US producer/writer collaborations include: Red One, Jeff Bhakser, Billy Steinberg, JR Rotem, Harvey Mason, Julian Bunetta, Chuck Harmony, Stereotypes, The Runners, Jimmy Harry, Alex Da Kidd, Livvi Frank, Heather Bright, to name a few…Currently also working with Virgin record artist Ms Williams set for release later later this year.
2011 has Ruth-Anne working on her own record whilst continuing sessions for key artists…Her eclectic tastes, her songwriting pedigree, her sense of soul, her penchant for fresh slamming beats, and her extensive set of producer, artist relationships lays an incredibly rich foundation to make what will surely be a killer smash record!
