Rusty Belle is a junk-folk trio based out of Amherst, MA. At the root of the band are Matt and Kate Lorenz who, after many years of sharing the same cassette tapes, decided to get form a group. The two met drummer/guitarist Zak Trojano in 2006 in a big old group house situation and convinced him to bring the skills and join the band.
In duo-form, the Lorenz siblings go heavy on the percussion. Matt plays a one-man-band set up of suitcase, washboard, a babyshoe pedal and gas can and classical guitar; Kate rips up washboard and a pared-down snare/floor tom/cymbal deal, and the two lay down tight, powerful harmonies around clever lyrics and musicality. Add Trojano with some slide guitar, an additional high-hat and a sweet country voice and you've got something pretty tasty.
Rusty Belle recorded two DIY records, two albums with Bankrow Records, and recorded their most recent album, On A Full Moon Weekend, at Signature Sounds with Mark Thayer. That's just the beginning. . .
