Involved in various discussions globally on hip hop and its influence just recently did a interview with OpenSource Radio in Boston discussing hip hop alongside Bikari Kitwana,Loira Limbal,Alain Phillippe Durand.Rushay Booysen hails from the Eastern Cape of South Africa his first introduction to hip hop came as a junior in his primary school days.Educated from the school of hip hop 101 he seeked knowledge and solutions in the words of a movement that created a buzz all around the world.A avid technology supporter he found a avenue in www.africasgateway.com to spread the buzz about the South African and rising movement in Africa that saw hip hop become the first born instead of the stepchild!His work with Africasgateway included interviews with various artist such as Blackalicious,Saul Williams,Masta Ace,Looptroop and other visiting artist.While creating a strong online presence he also took the time to manage and promote Jbux



In early 2004 Rushay got invited to Stanford University where he brought hip hop/culture and a reality that he calls his life to the listeners at this highly acclaimed institution.Upon his return to Port Elizabeth he started doing a highly acclaimed radio show The Present Testament with Jbux,the show broadcasted in the Metropole and also had a global listernership via the world wide web. In 2007 some of Rushay's work also got displayed in Barcelona,Spain through an initiative of Fundacio "La Caixa" a digital library on display in this beautiful city that also brought hip hop ala South African style to European listerners.Having a firm believe that the internet is the true window to the world he went on to be featured in various radio discussions and opensource streams.In 2006 he helped IndieGente a collective out of Mexico compile a compilation that featured the works of South African and South American hip hop artist a compilation that is believed to be the first kind of union between this two continents OpenSource interview.Rushay was also the music director for a local documentary called Masizakhe that focuses on the efforts of musicians to make a differance in the community of Port Elizabeth.In early 2008 Rushay went on a tour of the U.S.A where he addressed and showcased the work through Masizakhe,his tour took him to New York University,California Lutheran University,University of Michigan and The African Museum in San Francisco.Ventura County Reporter Interview.Some of his latest ventures is setting up True Sight Music a label with his partner Jason Fraser the vision to take music from talented musicians and send it the world over OpenSourceRadio!u can check out my BLOG space which basically contains my thoughts some interviews and images all spaced up in on BlogSpot RUSHAYS”S BLOGSPOT!
