Hi- this is London Born Bassist, Rufus Philpot-who first moved to New York City in 2000. Whilst there I recorded/ performed with some great musicians-some of whom I had listened to when I was still a teenager back in olde England.



Some highlights included touring Ecuador with Randy Brecker, playing with saxophonists Bill Evans, Aaron Heick,Bobby Watson,and Chico Freeman guitarists Julio Fernandez,Jeff Golub,Mitch Stein, Mark Whitfield, Vic Juris and the super talented David Gilmore-who just finished playing with Joss Stone, (and who will be playing with me in 2007!) keyboardists Bill O' Connel, Helio Alves, Hector Martignon, vibist Dave Samuels-a guest soloist with my own trio, JVR-which also featured Joel Rosenblatt-incredible drummer from Spyro Gyra and Michel Camilo's bands



Also was on the Faculty of The Bass Collective,where I taught for four years alongside Kim Plainfield, Ian Froman and others.



Some other Big Apple Musical adventures. recorded with artists like Jeff Golub, Buddy Williams, Tim Ries, and Alex Skolnick.Then in 2004, I decided to move West-to L.A. to play with some new bands



These now include Planet X(w/ Derek Sherinian and Virgil Donati) We have just recorded the new Planet X album-which will feature Allan Holdsworth and Brett Garsed on guitars.

Additionally, in the last two years here in L.A.I have either recorded or performed with these super chaps!

The Virgil Donati Group-this also has featured Steve Weingart, Tony MacAlpine and the great Mitch Forman on keys.In fact we just returned from our second tour of Australia in the last twelve months!

VIRGIL DONATI GROUP Update-!!

JUST returned from Tour Of Europe-Virgil Donati and I headlined a Festival for Bassists and Drummer's in Stockholm,Sweden, then performed with Tony MacAlpine and Mitch Forman in Poland and Greece.

Also, if you go to www.rufusbass.com you can check out Virgil's SECOND ever clinic with a bassist (the first was with Billy Sheehan!!) which we performed in Australia.

ALSO, I have done a couple of great gig s recently with the amazing Will Kennedy on drums (Will was the driving force behind the Yellowjackets for many years)



I am also JUST starting work with Ibanez Custom Shop on my third bass-should be really great



Also, Down to the Bone, a great acid jazz group-originally from England.We tour the US every year-check the schedule for dates.or look out for us atLong Beach and Newport Beach Jazz Fests in the Summer months.



Additionally, I have been giving Bass Masterclasses at both The Musician's institue (M.I.) and Los Angeles Music Academy (L.A.M.A.) and teaching an increasing number of private Bass Students too.

LATEST NEWS!!! K.P.H. Band-featruing Will Kennedy,myself and Greg Howe on guitar, and new arrival Dennis Hamm on keys-we are in Greece in Athens in Decmber!

I also just finished a cool show for ED BEGLEY JR. with the most excellent JOEY HEREDIA on drums!
