Recording Artist, Broadway Star and now Movie and TV Star, Ronny Mercedes is rising to the top!
Born and raised in Bronx, New York, he started singing at the age of the 3 to Mariachi, Boleros, Balads, Salsa, Pop/R&B tunes, and has been performing since the age of 7. Attending a performing arts high school, where he studied Classical and Gospel music, he was able to participate in a lot of musical theatre shows, commercials, modeling campaigns, and prestigious singing gigs (such as Radio City with Elton Jon, Carnegie Hall, performances with Alicia Keys, Ruben Studdard and Fantasia Barrino from American Idol amongst many more.). After graduating, Ronny was featured in the film “Tiny Dancer” in which he played the role of Javier, a Latino-American kid who aspires to be a singer and is raised in Spanish Harlem. Shortly after, he took his talents to the stages on 42nd street NYC, where he performed in Stephen Schwartz’s musical “Captain Louie”, followed by the Broadway bound musical “Magpie”, which gained him his first acting nomination in the Adelco Awards for "Best Male Performance in a Musical", leading him to expand his career as a union actor in many other musical theatre shows. He also was able to participate in the hit ABC TV soap-opera One Life to Live. Amongst the success being achieved in the acting industry, he signed a deal with Sony under SGZ entertainment in hopes of getting a Latin R&B album done, however, the project did not move forward. So far, he has over 20 songs recorded (not Sony Affiliated) that he wrote in both English and Spanish which are made up of Tropical, Pop, and R&B/soul rhythms. Mercedes has been promoting his music in the US and Latin America in both Spanish and English venues, where he has been enticing both the old school and new school audience. Recently, he appeared in the well- known series of “Law & Order”, however, his biggest success was participating in Telefutura’s/Univision’s popular T.V. show and talent contest “Objetivo Fama”, where he competed amongst the best Latino voices in the U.S. and Latin America, earning a spot as a semi-finalist which caused him to gain major popularity and recognition in the U.S. and Latin America. Winning over the hearts and support of a massive amount of viewers nationwide, with his strong will, perseverance, and unique style, there is no doubt that Ronny Mercedes will be an amazing success worldwide. He is currently in the 2 time Latin Billboard Awards nominee & Gold record Bachata sensation gruop, Voz a Voz, who's album will be dropping May 2009. Mercedes quotes, “I know God has a plan for me.
