ROCKY FONTAINE

“PUTTING PHILADELPHIA BACK ON THE MAP IN HIS OWN WAY”

In a city where the murder rate has reached the highest in the nation, up incoming artist Rodney “Rocky Fontaine” Myers is determined to bring good music back to a city that has become what many would refer to as dormant to the entertainment industry. With an ability to string words together, the knack to immerse himself in a verse, and the ‘know how’ of how to touch the people, this 24-year-old emcee is giving something back to his city through music. As his presence in music continues to expand and the tales of his talents make there way into industry circles, his career is steadily coming to exactly where it needs to be, at the forefront.

Determined and motivated to have a career full of longevity, Rocky Fontaine was born and raised in the Germantown “Uptown” area of Philadelphia. Known for its harsh realities and uncompromising positions, “Uptown” like many other urban areas included the lure of the streets. That lure proved to be closer than most due to Rocky’s own father, a well-known hustler’s repeated run ins with law. The same law his mother, a Philadelphia police officer, did her best to uphold. Unbeknownst to Rocky that law would be the same reasons both of his parents would be removed from his life. After the untimely death of his mother and the imprisonment of his father, he was left to care for himself. Nights on the streets and days shuffling from one friends home to another built character and a strong determination to be successful.

Accomplishing far more than the average rapper in Philadelphia, Rocky Fontaine quickly found a home in music. Ready, fully able, and capable of exercising his independence, this young and talented word slinger has already acquired countless recognition in the industry. This same recognition has been instrumental in leading to numerous worth while opportunities that include a shoe endorsement with Kashi Kicks, the upstart of his own Production Company, and a slue of other profitable business ventures. An adaptor by habit, Rocky Fontaine is far from being prone to the acceptance of defeat, which only tells of his desire to progress in this industry of music and other ventures.

Already successful in creating a buzz in his home city, Rocky Fontaine knows what it takes to make his career come to pass on a national level. Now with 2008 in full swing he has garnished features on over a hundred mix tapes by various DJ’s across the country, he has performed along side various mainstream artists such as Young Jeezy, Rich Boy, Rick Ross, Wiz Khalifa, Slim from RnB group 112, Shawty Lo, and many others. With a recent release of, Entourage Season 1, a mixtape, that he refers to as a homage to his struggle, and a glance of his success, Rocky Fontaine looks to give the world what they are looking for. In months to follow Rocky also looks to drop his first album, Entourage Season 2, which is heavily being directed by industry veteran, Tyrrell Bing ½ of Tha Corna Boyz.

“I think honestly Rocky is definitely in my top five when it comes to artist in terms of versatility, creativeness, and his willingness to go outside of his lane,” states Corna Boyz producer Tyrrell Bing when asked about Rocky’s talent. “A lot of people are scared to go outside the norm, especially when it comes to black music. Everyone wants to sell dope, refer to women as “bitches”, and just follow what’s already been done. He’s one of the few artist that doesn’t fall into that and instead steps outside the box and stays true to his own artistry. I’m a fan of people who do that.

As Rocky Fontaine’s ability to make quality music outside the box continues, it shouldn’t be long before this polished individual reaches his superstar potential. With his current single “Goodlife” in heavy rotation on the radio, in the streets and the clubs, it isn’t hard to see why he’s a star in the makin.
