ROCK STONE'S SOUND BIO



ROCK STONE. We are the finest Reggae Soundsystem in the Saxony-Anhalt area in Germany. We are famous for bringing good vibes to every dancehall. For playing the best selection. For making the ladies dance and the rudeboys shout.
ROCK STONE has played in big citys like Berlin, Dresden and Prague as well as on countless country dances.



ENGLISH



The sound was founded in Summer 1999 after several vacation trips to Jamaica in the late 90s. The crewmembers are as follows: Ecki chats on the mic, J.R and Hi-Dee select and mix the tunes. In 2007 Dave joined the crew as MC, he used to be singer with the Reggae/Ska band Sazon.



It all started with self-promoted bashments. ROCK STONE was the first DJ-Crew to play hardcore Dancehall style in places like Halle and Magdeburg, therefore we soon earned a reputation as Reggae ambassadors. After a while, ROCK STONE got bookings from various promoters and tour the clubs. In the last years, we went on summer tours all over Germany.



ROCK STONE holds its own dance, called "Hands Up Club" at Klub Luise in Magdeburg. Once a month there are sessions featuring guest soundsystems and artists. We also do a show on irregular basis in Jena, called "Pull Up Club".



In August 2001 ROCK STONE went on air on Radio Corax 95.9 FM with a self-produced Reggae programme called ROCK STONE Soundstation. This show ran twice a month featuring two hours of the latest dancehall riddims as well as foundation. However, after 6 six successful years, ROCK STONE Soundstation had to come to an end in May 2007.



ROCK STONE is a true juggling sound, able to move every crowd. Still, we have clashed twice with several local sounds and won both dances.

Das Soundsystem wurde im Sommer 1999 gegründet, nach verschiedenen Jamaikabesuchen der Crewmitglieder. Das sind Ecki am Mikrofon sowie J.R. und Hi-Dee an den Turntables. 2007 kam mit Dave ein neuer MC dazu, der als Sänger der Reggae/Ska Band Sazon bereits Bühnenerfahrung sammeln konnte.



Mit selbst veranstalteten Bashments in Merseburg, Halle und Magdeburg fing alles an. Wir waren die ersten, die Hardcore Dancehall spielten und bekamen schnell einen Ruf als Reggae-Botschafter. Bald kamen erste Bookings von außerhalb dazu, so dass wir unzählige Dancehall-Kilometer zurücklegten (und immer noch legen). Dazu gehören auch zwei komplette Sommertouren.



Wir veranstalten zuhause in Magdeburg den „Hands Up Club" im Klub Luise, ein Soundsystem-Showcase bei dem hin und wieder auch Liveartists auftreten. Außerdem veranstalten wir in unregelmäßigen Abständen den „Pull Up Club" in Jena.



Im August 2001 ging die Radiosendung ROCKSTONE Soundstation auf Radio Corax 95.9 FM on Air. 6 Jahre lang lief die Sendung jeden zweiten Freitagabend und brachte brandneue Bashment Riddims, Roots und Vintage Tunes sowie Partyinfos. Die erfolgreiche Show wurde im Mai 2007 aus Zeitgründen eingestellt.



ROCKSTONE ist in erster Linie ein Juggling Sound mit absoluter Tanzgarantie. Dennoch konnten wir der Versuchung nicht widerstehen, gegen andere Soundsystems um die t des Publikums zu spielen. Nachdem der erste Soundclash "5 The Hard Way", 45s only, im Januar 2004 in Leipzig gewonnen war, haben wir den Titel bei der Nachfolgeveranstaltung "Trouble Again" im darauffolgenden Jahr erfolgreich verteidigt.
