ROCK OF AGES FEST - an independently financed event that had been put together with the aims of supporting live music, giving real talent a stage to perform on, and which, it was hoped, would become one of the most prominent independent music events in the British music calendar.

In 2007, the event was, in it's first year, accredited by former Iron Maiden vocalist Blaze Bayley as the stage from which he would re-launch his career, a claim that he went on to reinforce as he has gone from strength to strength since.

In 2008, more NWOBHM legends graced the stage of this event including Waysted, Blitzkrieg and Tygers of Pan Tang, as well as Steve Grimmett and the Gypsy Pistoleros. Again, the event had a good atmosphere and the event was satisfactorily building a solid reputation for ethical treatment of artists and the hard work of the promotions company, Rock Of Ages Entertainment.

Sadly 2009's festival was ravaged by problems, including. (1) Some of the worst weather or the winter meant that the main stage was rained off due to safety concerns (2) Local transport networks were hit at little advance-notice by industrial action and engineering works (3) 20 of the 60 bands booked for the event failed to turn up, many without the courtesy of advance-notice (4) and backline, lighting and catering suppliers failed to turn up, leaving the promoter to be thrown to the wolves and public domain. Yes, some mistakes were made, and some people were inconvenienced by this. This was not intended OR down to the promoter, who had done the best he could do with what he had available to him. The event was savagely and unfairly ripped into by a number of people who didn’t have all the facts of why the event had had so many hiccups. We look back to the good reputation the event had in 2007 and 2008, and you will see that something significant must have happened to cause such issues.

After three years of significant losses on the event, Rock of Ages Fest came to a close. The event is now under new management, and we intend to make the event a huge success. We only hope they’re still people out there who believe in music, and promoters who love music as much the fans.

If you would like to be part of the team, and feel you can play a valuable part in the future success of this event, please feel free to get in touch and talk business with us.

See you on the dark side.!
