Singer-songwriter Robin Grant is as diverse a musician as they come, bringing her southern roots and soul into every song she writes and every performance she gives. Raised on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Robin’s first gig at the age of thirteen was a live nation-wide telecast featuring the best of young performers on the Coast. That experience widened her perspective on what it takes to create a magic moment that makes people want to hear and see more.

Eager to make the most of her talents, Robin went on to study music in college and received an education diverse in all elements of music, including music technology, world music and composition. After graduating, she started making frequent trips to Nashville, to continue developing her writing skills.

“I knew that if I wanted to learn and be the best songwriter I could be, Nashville was the place to be. Being surrounded by the best singers, writers and musicians is inspiring, exciting and a real chance to learn and grow.”

On a whim, Robin decided to enter the 2003 Billboard Song Contest, to “test the waters” of her songwriting skills. She won 3rd place in the country category with a song she penned solo.

“At that point, I thought, ok, I can do this, and made the commitment to spend as much time in Nashville as possible.”

After making the permanent move to Nashville, Robin began performing her songs in as many writer’s rounds as possible, performing at 3rd & Lindsley, Dan McGuiness, Limelight and Fuel among other venues. In addition to writer’s nights, she has leant her voice as a background vocalist performing with artists at the Wildhorse Saloon, Douglas Corner and 12th & Porter.

“My intention has been the same since I was a fifth-grader trying to write my very first song. And that intention is to be the best musician, writer and singer I can be. Music has been an enormous part of my life for as long as I can remember. No matter what level of success comes my way, I know that if I put every bit of myself in whatever I’m doing, and make a difference to even one person, I have had success.”
