For most of his life Robin Gibb has been a principal member of one of the most celebrated song writing teams and recording groups of all time: the Bee Gees. Few artists have impacted pop culture so completely and for so long as the Bee Gees have, selling 200 million records and having charted over 60 hit singles, including Massachusetts, I've Gotta Get A Message To You, Lonely Days, How Can You Mend A Broken Heart, How Deep Is Your Love, Stayin' Alive, You Win Again, and For Whom The Bell Tolls. The Bee Gees' song catalogue is the most successful alongside The Beatles. With over 6,500 cover versions known to exist, the brothers Gibb are the only writers in the UK to have achieved number ones in five decades. Amongst the many Gibb-penned titles made famous by other artists are Woman In Love, Heartbreaker, Chain Reaction, Emotion, and Islands In The Stream. Robin Gibb and his brothers Barry and Maurice were inducted into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Robin's trademark ethereal voice has been a key ingredient in the Bee Gees sound but he also moulded his own musical identity with a number of solo releases, including the number one hits Saved By The Bell and Juliet. He also wrote and produced Jimmy Ruffin's top ten hit Hold On To Your Love. Robin continuously develops new songs and ideas in his home studio, occasionally writing for and producing other artists, and he adds his distinct vocals to selected projects, some of these for charities. Recent collaborations include the top ten hits My Lover's Prayer with Alistair Griffin, Too Much Heaven with US5, Liz Mc Clarnon's rendition of Woman In Love, and the chart topping Comic Relief single Islands In The Stream. Robin just finished recording his first new solo album in seven years, a collection tentatively titled 50 St Catherine's Drive, which is arguably his strongest work since his Bee Gees days. The enchanting I Am The World, the hypnotic Instant Love and Broken Wings, and the inspirational All We Have Is Now, are just some of the set's many highlights. Robin is currently working on a classical piece for orchestra and choir to commemorate the Titanic disaster's anniversary, and continues to give concerts around the world.
Robin actively promotes and encourages the interests of young songwriters and musicians, and supports several charitable organisations. He is president of CISAC, and an ambassador for the Diana Award and the Outward Bound Trust. When he isn't touring or recording, Robin divides his time among his homes in Oxfordshire, Miami and the Isle of Man. When not composing he loves to read, draw, and take long walks. Robin has a great passion for history and has been leading the campaign to build a permanent memorial in London for the veterans of World War II's Bomber Command.
