Robert grew up among a large, music-loving family. His father was one of 14 siblings, and the junior Chevrier has one brother. No strangers to family sing-alongs, the Chevrier family spent many an evening lost in musical reverie. Robert began playing along on guitar at the tender age of three, and shortly thereafter mastered piano as well.

Before long, Robert regularly accompanied his family on their musical sojourns, playing at church socials, legion halls, and a plethora of community special events, performing for folks from all walks of life: from Sunday school teachers to Shriners, Kiwanis-ites, and War Veterans, to students, factory workers, business execs and local celebs.

As a teen, Robert worked with numerous area rock bands, and one day found himself playing alongside John Ellison, the founding member of Soul Brothers Six, and famous for his hit song “Some Kind Of Wonderful.” Impressed, Ellison joked, “This town isn’t big enough for all this talent,” and convinced Chevrier to move to Toronto. Robert spent two years in that bustling city, and eventually joined forces with Ellison for a European tour.

Hungry for a bigger taste of the musical universe, Robert pulled up stakes and headed for Nashville, the official “home” of country music and headquarters for a vibrant new music scene. He began hustling the honky tonks as soon as he arrived in Music City, eager to hone his craft and anxious to make the necessary connections to advance his fledgling career. It worked. Since then, Robert has played and toured with such renowned artists as Tanya Tucker, David Frizzell, Marty Raybon, The Mavericks, Gary Morris, D.J. Fontana, Scotty Moore, Ronnie Tutt, James Burton, Rick Derringer, Brian Setzer and Raul Malo, for whom he even contributed original material.
