'This is a release that just bleeds passion and integrity.' - scannerzine.com on Ritalin's new album Roguetown.

Ritalin are now one of New Zealand’s most established, hardest working underground bands, a perfect example of what pure dedication and unwavering commitment can achieve.

Forming in 1998 while still at high school the band in its current shape has been seriously touring and recording since late 2001. Ritalin have toured everywhere in New Zealand from Invercargill to Auckland, the West Coast of the South Island to the East Coast of the North, taking in the country over a dozen times and Australia twice in the last few years.

Having Toured with international heavyweights such as The Bouncing Souls, Strike Anywhere, and Strung Out as well as supporting modern day legends Against Me, Sick of it all, The Unseen, The Hard On’s, The D4, and many more, Ritalin have learnt from some of the worlds best live performers, which has contributed to their intense live show.

Ritalin have also appeared at many high profile festivals such as The 2003 Big Day Out, Countless New Zealand Punk-fest Festival’s and most recently the Wasted Festival in Melbourne, Australia playing alongside some of the UK and Europe’s most legendary punk rock bands.

Ritalin’s previous releases have sold in the thousands with little mainstream exposure a sign of appreciation from fans for Ritalin’s overwhelming dedication to touring and their strong D.I.Y ethic, the band even managed to keep up the pace of touring and recording while drummer Stu was playing for New Zealand’s most successful punk export Sommerset.

In terms of releases the band has a strong track record in 2002 the three-track release Bitter sold out instantly.

The album Stop Wasting Time followed (2003) and sold continuously throughout the country the release is currently out of print. In 2004 a Split E.P in co-operation with Auckland’s Puppy killer Records featuring brothers Two Fat Ladies again sold well around the country, and a limited edition 5 track Self-Titled demo (2005) sold out in weeks.

A collection of some of Ritalin’s out of print releases The Super CD was released in 2006 and is now also currently out of print.

Ritalin also featured in other mediums such as TV, Radio and DVD. Appearing on TV2’s Play it Strange Festival (live to air) Ritalin were asked to play twice as many songs as other acts due to the incessant chanting of the sold out crowd, the band has also appeared on Tv2’s XSTV and Cow TV.

Ritalin have achieved success on the NZ student Radio network and have been play-listed on Triple J’s Short Fast and Loud program in Australia, as well as featuring on countless DVD compilations and in US punk bible Maximum Rock n Roll.

But the Story does not end here, Ritalin are preparing to explode with the release of their new album “Roguetown”, a culmination of the band’s efforts of the last 4 years this is the definitive Ritalin release. The 12 track album is a DIY release of the highest caliber and released to stores in May of 2007. Extensive touring of New Zealand has followed Roguetown's release with more dates around the country always in the works.
