Risen From The Ashes Pop, Country, and Rock tossed into a blender at high speed , writes one fan, and he hit the nail on the head. Risen From The Ashes cranks out powerful, and inspired "Contemporary Christian Music." You know, blistering ballads and micro-anthems that embody the basic Pop Rock, with a Rock and Roll aesthetic facial. Ultimately, it's Risen From The Ashes live show that generates the most enthusiastic reviews. "Like your best friend's older brother's cool band . . . Its a blast."

Risen From The Ashes is an Edmonton, AB based band originally formed in 2000, as a praise and worship band for Edmonton Crossroads Community Church (an inner city church plant assisting many who struggle with addictions issues). The band consists of Murray Jaster (vocals/acoustic guitar); Ray Mailman (vocals/lead guitar); Larry Brown (keyboards); Dean Jaster (bass/piano); Dawn VonSemmler (percussion) and Joseph Jenkins (drums).

Their self-titled debut CD was recorded on the cheap during two intense days as simply a thank you for their home church. Nevertheless, the disc garnered three award nominations and the 2005 Canadian MAJA Gospel Music Award for Best Alternative/Rock Recording, where they also enjoyed the privilege of performing and becoming the first artists in the awards fifteen year history to be called for an encore during their performance. Risen From The Ashes is a founding member of the Faces of Recovery Concert Series which is a series of benefits to raise funds to assist those in need of addictions treatment and a return to their families and communities.

Ray Mailman, Dean Jaster and Joseph Jenkins joined the original members (Murray Jaster, Rod Hayward and Larry Brown) in 2002 playing a major role in and providing for the diversity of musical styles. Odd for a group of guys who otherwise probably wouldnt have come together except for two things, their love of Christ and their love of music. It's not about the individuals, nor their stories, not even their music. It is about the Lord, Jesus Christ and His power to raise, literally, people "from the ash heap, to set them among princes and make them inherit the throne of glory" (1 Samuel 2:8). Hence the name of this band "Risen From The Ashes".

Risen From The Ashes have been part of a transformation since their award-winning 2004 debut release. The bands journey of self-discovery has yielded some incredible music which is highlighted by their personal stories and written in their songs. I wouldnt say there is a consistent album theme," Jenkins says of the songs on the new album TRANSFORMED. The commonality is that there is hope, there is restoration and we can trust that we have help on the way when we call on Christ". I think that every song definitely has a message within itself and they can minister to people, young and old alike, in different ways."
