Colleens mother, a vocalist and pianist, stimulated her passion for music and helped develop her talent from an early age. Her earliest influences came from the Baptist hymnal as she learned to harmonize with the Sunday songs. After later developing a classical background, Colleen found her own style through many different musical genres. Her biggest influence stemmed from the 1940s and 50s. Colleen loved to get lost in the harmonies of the Andrews sisters, as well as the smooth sounds of Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald and felt a natural reflection in her own singing. In college, Colleen went on to train in classical and jazz as well as the schools ambassador show choir, where she met a fellow performer who soon introduced her to the irresistible sound of electronic music.
Colleen found the dirty grit of house music intriguing and became more involved in the electronic scene. She soon discovered a more melodic side of electronic music with the rise of Tiesto. With a renewed passion, Colleen sought out a more intense sound and became greatly influenced by the talents of Paul Oakenfold, Armin van Buuren, Markus Shulz, BT, and the angelic vocals of Jan Johnston and Justine Suissa.
Eventually her electronic fascination and musical talent would collide. A chance encounter at an after-hours event with local legend, DJ Kenneth Thomas, made way for two collaborations and the beginning of Colleens electronic career.
