In short, Acoustic Trainwreck Volume 2 is the second release in the Ricky Wayne Sprague, Acoustic Trainwreck series. Volume 1 was recorded, literally, just days before Ricky Wayne had a stroke in 2009. Volume 2 is Ricky's first record since the stroke, and includes 11 songs written and/or finished post-stroke and 1 never before released gem from the 80's, Rub It Inn. The record features Ricky Wayne on acoustic guitar, harmonica and singing, plus the accompaniment of mult-instrumentalist T-Roy Miller. T-Roy also accompanied Ricky Wayne on Volume 1, as well as co-producing and engineering both projects.
Now, to elaborate. The subject matter of the songs covers a wide area of topics. There are love songs with "skyline drives", "river banks", "drowning" , "demons" and "teeter totters". There is some social commentary that includes "horse droppings in disguise", playing "follow the leader" , " jumping over quick brown foxes". There are songs with traditonal folk topics such as a "weathered highway", a "stroll thru the old neighborhood" and how it "all comes out in the wash". There are legendary tales of "angels getting wings when the church bell rings", the "rumbling of the rails by the glory train", and the "sleeping indian up on the mountain top". There is even a poetic reference to that age old question "who grew the Freakies tree?".
In summary, the sleeping indian is still there and this is a really cool record from the Intergalactic Trainwreck Troubadour his ownself, and is a must have for all trainwreckaroos. And yes, the Rub It Inn really did have 50 cent beer, and it's still there outside of Fort Gordan, Georgia. Google it. In the words of Ricky Wayne, "Catch me on the download yo".
