Son of two Ecuadorian parents, Ricky C was born in Chicago and raised in Miami, Florida. Ricky's father, Segundo Cisneros, was a famous Latin singer who released multiple albums and performed worldwide. It was his father who first introduced Ricky to music at a young age. "My dad was really how I was first exposed to music. I would sing and play guitar with him as a kid." Ricky C also counts artists ranging from Michael Jackson and Bon Jovi to Christian Castro and Stevie Wonder as influences. At age 17, Ricky C decided to pursue music professionally and he began his career under the tutelage of his father.
A major turning point in Ricky's life and career would come some years later when his father passed away. Although his life would never be the same without his father at his side, Ricky C emerged from the tragedy focused and ready to take his musical career to the next level.
In early 2009, Ricky C signed a recording contract with Universal Latino Music and its urban imprint Machete Music. With a major label deal complete, Ricky C continues to tour and promote his music. Notable performances include the Latin Billboard Awards Showcase with ASCAP, the National Anthem at the New Orleans Saints and the Los Angeles Lakers, God Bless America at the Atlanta Braves, Calle Ocho Carnival Festival, and Power 96.5 Beach House Concert, among a slew of others. Ricky C has also been featured on Billboard Magazine, ASCAP Playback Magazine, the front page of popular website Batanga.com, and was signed on as a spokesperson for the Tobacco Free Florida campaign.
In December 2009, Ricky landed a feature on the official remix to Nelly Furtado's second Spanish-album single "Mas". His Spanish-language debut is due out in the first quarter of 2010, lead by the single and music video release of "Otro Amor". He also continues to write and record and is planning an eventual cross-over into the English market. Ricky emphatically states "I don't want to limit myself or my art – music is universal and I want to touch the masses the same way the superstars that influenced me did."
