RICHARD OGAWA is a singer/songwriter born in Seattle, WA and raised in Vancouver, Canada. Trained in classical piano, he began at the age of 9 and for the next 10 years, studied with examinations through the Royal Conservatory of Music, Toronto. He began formal vocal training at the School of Music at the University of British Columbia and soon headed off to New York City to study theatre, graduating from The American Musical and Dramatic Academy in 1998. For 8 and a half years, Manhattan was home base as he persued his career in performance, originating roles off-Broadway to pre-Broadway workshops and readings, regional and touring productions across the U.S. and Canada, as well as taking the stage of such world renown venues as Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. About the same time he moved to New York, he bought his first guitar and began his songwriting. Whilst working in the theatre and keeping afloat between gigs, he continued writing on piano and/or guitar and in recent years started performing his own music at such iconic venues as CBGB Lounge, the Duplex and Rose's Turn. In 2005, Richard crossed the pond to the UK where he continues to write and perform. He currently resides in London, England with his partner Daniel and their two dogs.
