Résistance was spawned by the love for traditional heavy metal of Joël and Florian back at the end of the 90's. Although the French heavy metal scene, whose leading band KILLERS inspired the name of Résistance, was quite important for its founding members, some thrash influences started to get mixed in the band's sound.
It's only from 2005 that things started to get serious with Marc and Nathaniel joining the band on drums and vocals respectively. Résistance focused on recording what would become the self titled demo. Released in late 2006, it got the name spread a bit and eventually lead to sign with EMANES METAL records after a successful gig with HIRAX in September 2007. Being a young label at that time, you can guess that both EMANES and Résistance have grown together since then.
Hence followed the first album called "bang your fucking skull" which got the band even more exposure. Indeed, the band managed to promote it in several countries like France, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Belgium. Alongside the 2008 tour with American thrashers FUELED BY FIRE some gigs were played with a couple of killer bands like MANILLA ROAD, PENTAGRAM (usa), KILLERS (fr), CAGE, LONEWOLF, PAGAN ALTAR, ARTILLERY, ESTUARY, NECROVATION, PORTRAIT as well as almost every EMANES METAL bands, and some more. Mark leaves the band in the end of the year, and is replaced by Marti / Ilmar from our brothers BLOODY SIGN.
Having opened theirs ears to the universe of 70's hard and progressive rock as well as to bands like BROCAS HELM and SLOUGH FEG, the Résistance members decided to compose a concept album based on the novel of Lewis called "the monk". The eerie and colourful vibe of the album has been strengthened by the collaboration of guest musicians like The overtly melancholic Lord Strange of THE LAMP OF THOTH's fame on vocals. Kalevi Uibo of BLOODY SIGN's fame hammered some Hammond organ lines. And Dimitar Gougov of BOYA/ LES VIOLONS BARBARES added his haunting gadulka (a traditional Bulgarian hurdy-gurdy) to the whole. Expect a theatrical and intricate piece of metal by a band eager to conquer the hearts and souls of the music fanatics.
