Welcome to CoolBeanz and the Nerd Invasion. From teenage parent, to soldier, to crook, to inmate, to homelessness, to single parent, to cosmetologist, to one of Detroit's elite alternative hip hop artist, to the world's only outspoken/ rebellious/ tough guy nerdy rocker.you are guaranteed to get an earful of every aspect of life when you listen to RenCen CoolBeanz. The "anti-normal" activist has dedicated his career and life to encouraging people to wear their skin and individual personality proudly. "I feel like people are accustomed to shunning the "different" person. The funny thing is that person usually ends up being whats in style later on." When you hear CoolBeanz you can feel the reflection of an overwhelming nice guy with a deep compassion for the underdog, topped of with a ruff/ tough guy attitude. "I am truly a nerd and I will swing on you with no problem if necessary. I'm not saying that everybody has to physically have altercations but we (Nerds) have been picked on for too long and would never fight back. My music helps the fight not be so irrational. Columbine was a tragic example of what the pressures of being different can do to kids."
Musically RenCen holds the title of being Detroits pioneer of "Alternative Hip Hop". A new genre composed of multi-genres with a heavy alternative rock influenced blend of underground lyricism over commercial/ garage band melodies. Since CoolBeanz's debut to the world "AMERICAN ME: The Wild Adventures Of CoolBeanz" was released, he's been gaining fans from Detroit to Australia, Europe, Asia, & Canada. The buzz about the project swamped blog sites and various underground circuits landing him with performances with a myraid of artist including Bad Boy Ent/ Wanderland Music's Janelle Monae, XXL's independent artist of the year Tech N9ne, famed punk rock band Bobaflex, a spot in the Annual Metro Times Blow Out Festival, headlining at the famed St. Andrews Hall, & other large events. His reputation for having an explosive performance landed him a nomination for best performer at The 2010 Detroit Peoples Choice Music Awards & notarized as one of Detroit's "who's who" artist. "I pretty much tell my fans not to dress up and wear clothing they can sweat in because they'll be loosing weight at my show."
Outside of being an artist/ producer growing in popularity, RenCen is an avid community activist mentoring & teaching the music business to inner city youth. "I think that the problem is the children of today are not being taught about the many options they have to be successful. They're only exposed to college and drugs. I teach them how to legally start a business using their talent as the main product of sales. They also learn the many methods of capitalizing off it other than album sales. People tend to forget that this is a business. I want to change the world but we must start with the source.our mentality."
From several performances nationally & internationally, to the Peace to the Head Movement brand, to two albums being held captive in the mp3 players and cd players of many, RenCen CoolBeanz is destined to be iconic. "My dream is to be a positive influence on the world. I always get what I want."
