The Origin Of Red Stone Ojibway (Misko-Asin)

The origin of the drum group Redstone Ojibway comes from

Batchewana First Nation Ontario The name was given to the

group by a traditional practitioner from Red Lake Minnesota

and has been carried for over 15 years. The drum group is mainly

made from immediate family members who are contributing to

keeping the values that the drum has for the ojibway people of

our area. Our songs we sing are self composed by members of the

drum and are shared with other groups who participate at

powwows. The drum Redstone Ojibway, travelled extensively

across ontario, michigan, wisconsin, minnesota, manitoba, and

various other places where powwows and gatherings have taken

place. To all family and friends who contributed to this drum we

say meegwetch.
