What happens when you mix three chemists, 4 patents, 6 college degrees, and a pastry chef? A blend of melodic pop mayhem ensues, resplendent with pumping bass and crisp guitar, the Redox sound is rock formulated as it should be. This is angular dance pop for the thinking person.

Redox has two EP’s to their credit, spanning the gamut of emotion from exuberant joy to brooding moodiness. The sound is both new and familiar. The “Magic” EP shows the band’s darker side, with the instant classic “Release” that was destined to be part of the best 007 film never made. The song “Pretty Picture” was selected from “Magic” to be included in an internationally released compilation album of up-and-coming powerpop (“The Powerpop Overthrow Vol 2 – 272 Records). The band’s latest effort, the “Feels Right” EP, chronicles a sparkling hot summer, filled with surprises and spontaneity. With the classic guitar muscularity of “Castlebury” to the dance floor selection of “Feels Right”, the band captures the essence of long hot nights, distilling that feeling into three minute pop tunes. What’s next? Check out the deep dance introspection of “Zen”, a dark demo belying the new sound being explored.

Redox features some of the catchiest pop the NW has to offer. The band continues to draw inspiration from everyday observation, political debate, and postmodern literature. If you’re a fan of literary greats Iain Banks and Roberto Bolano, then this is your soundtrack. If you are sometimes lost in a transient fugue, then this is the music of your musings.

The band has become a major player in the Eugene indie scene, opening for NW favorites such as the Fast Computers, The Trucks and The Dimes. Redox has opened for nationally recognized acts such as The Spores, Zelazowa, Jerad Finck and Freshkills.

In 2006 the band first appeared on the Eugene scene gathering fans of the Redox pop sound. The band has played shows from Seattle, WA to Ashland, OR with a momentum that culminated in a Last Band Standing finals appearance in 2008 before 800 people. When Redox takes the stage, people take the dance floor in response to music that is a direct hit. 2009 will see a new full length album, an acoustic album, and an appearance in Portland for the Cornsilk Collective showcase. Redox is formulating the new sound of NW pop music.
