The "Recomposition" project began back in 2004 with the idea of crafting original music around existing acapella lyrics and melodies. The desire was to stretch the bounds of hip-hop and rap by introducing musical concepts and elements that aren't normally present in the genre, and to use as much live instrumentation as possible. The songs explore a wide range of musical cultures, including bluegrass, rock, classical, jazz, and country influences, but all remain true to their hip-hop roots. In the end, it's all about crafting original music to support the artists' existing lyrics and musical voice.
