I sing mostly dark and soulful songs, and play various instruments including 12-string guitar, celtic harp, piano, bass and penny whistle. My partner Daniel Staniforth plays cello, classical guitar and a host of other things.

I've dipped heavily into the well of ancestral and faery inspiration with a re-imagining of British traditional songs, also writing songs of my own or with Daniel which are often rooted in something ancient but branch out into something different. The dark and ethereal side of folk music with a psychedelic edge.

Daniel is a writer, poet, singer, producer and multi-instrumentalist and releases alt rock albums under the name of Luna Trick. Our partnership is taking ever more interesting and alchemical directions. We're busy working on a spin-off project called Alchymical Muse, which combines both our voices in a Dead Can Dancey mystical frisson. Album due out in 2010 - meanwhile have a listen on our MySpace profile.

Posted here are four tracks from the newly released "Seven Star Green" album: a couple of English folk songs . Let No Man Steal Your Thyme and Our Captain Cried. There's also an original, Molotov Spongecake, based on the story of Victor Grayson, a parliamentary whistleblower who went missing (presumed murdered) in 1920. The Cursing Song was written by Dreampower author R J Stewart (recorded with permission) and although penned in 1975 it now becomes chillingly topical as the economy collapses around us.

Then there's a couple from my debut album "Mind The Gap": Blackbirds and Thrushes and The Unquiet Grave, both English folk songs with a psychedelic treatment.

Finally, Dance to the Hills is a Luna Trick song (Daniel takes the lead vocal here) and The Gardener Child, orchestrated by Daniel, is a taster of yet another forthcoming release.

We take the music into our souls and then let it all splurge out however it wants. There's no more or less to it than that.

Outside music, I'm a plant breeder and an expert on heritage vegetables . my pride and joy being the creation of a red-podded pea (I mean really deep crimson) and a sugarsnap pea with rainbow coloured seeds. No GM involved, it's all natural genes and shamanism! Feel free to check out my Daughter of the Soil site.
