Rebekah Star’s debut EP titled “Alien Nation” is a unique mix of electro, rock, funk and pop, and is seductively kick-ass. Produced by Los Angeles-based Greg Hampton who has worked on Bootsy Collins and Buckethead’s projects, the songs include the Blondie-esque “Electro Soul,” and heavy funk “Alien Nation.” “A friend of mine used the words ‘electro-soul’ to describe my music about two years ago. I decided to write a song called ‘Electro Soul’.



Why was Alien Nation her first commercial release?



“Alien Nation was a starting point for me, which I found offered a great learning opportunity. It allowed me to explore my potential as a songwriter, and enabled me to work with quality producers who understood what I was trying to do. I had a great time working with top of the line songwriters, musicians, and producers, from the studio to playing shows. I had so many questions, so much to learn, and I wanted it all at once, so this album was a really good way for me to understand my direction.”



So what’s next?



“I’m working on my next album with Che Dubois, which is coming out in Spring 2011. I’m excited about this project, it’s riding a pop/electro vibe, and we’re making the songs dj friendly so they can be played by any dj worldwide, and on any radio station. I’m planning some live shows with djs. There’s good times ahead.”



What will the new album be called?



“It’s called Sonic, and it will definitely send you on a journey to sonic places. I think I’m still riding the wave.”
