Virgin Music Blog. One to watch: Razmataz Lorry Excitement March 6th, 2009
It’s ace to think that the UK has been responsible for breeding some of the biggest electronic acts over the last couple of decades. Artists such as Orbital, Underworld, Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers and Massive Attack continue to top the bills at major festivals due to their creativity and unpredictable live shows. But who’s going to fill in the gaps once these bands put down theirs samplers and finally lock away the drum machines? Recently we have seen Orbital announcing plans for a live return, but we can’t rely on them forever. Sadly, we don’t think they’ve cracked the recipe for eternal musical youth.
We need some new artists who make music to a high standard and who’ll drag the posers from the bar and on to the dancefloor to shake whatever booty they have on them. Razmataz Lorry Excitement does just that. Believe me when I say so - I’ve witnessed him dropping an electro bomb in the room, and everyone stops to listen.
Electronic music sometimes gets a bad wrap from other people who don’t dig the scene as much. Granted, a man lurched over a laptop might not be that exciting to watch. But with Razmataz Lorry Excitement this isn’t the case. Armed with beaten up samplers, keyboards and other complicated looking equipment, he spends an entire gig constantly tweaking and adjusting his hardware to make sure the set runs smoothly.
At the moment, gigs seem to be confined to North-East England, but after listening tracks to his MySpace and viewing live vids of him in action, it would seem odd for other promoters not to snap him up and possibly give him gigs in exotic places like Blackburn.

"Razmataz Lorry Excitement is one of the most exciting local acts I've seen in a long time. Mixing up classic dance sensibilities and huge beats with all the attitude of modern electro-rock acts like LCD Soundsystem, Soulwax or Simian Mobile Disco, RLE creates a sound that could well be pure audible ecstasy.
You can't help but move to RLE, even if you're as embarrassingly void of rhythm as I am, the basslines throb right through you, shaking you to the core and causing your balls to tremble in your trousers like a sockful of marbles on a washing machine. If you're one for pulsing rhythms, thumping beats and super-sonic melodies, you'll love RLE.”

Paul Gibbins (Live review for NARC magazine May 2008)
