In a small country like Lebanon, it is not an everyday occurrence that a

talented young man achieves his big dream of becoming a famous,

internationally-acknowledged singer. But that was what Ramy Ayach actually did.

Most people might think that Ramy's luck only brought him to being a star. The

truth is quite different.

Being the youngest son in a family that loves music, Ramy's first interest in

art started in his hometown of Baakleen in the splendid mountains of Lebanon. He

was always surrounded by musical instruments offered by his parents to their

sons as birthday gifts. The family's common passion for music led Ramy's elder

brothers to play in various concerts in town.

Ramy's first public appearance was on his school stage. Back in the year 1987,

it was not ordinary for a seven-year-old boy to sing on stage with such

confidence. Along with his school education, Ramy's talent and personality

developed while learning music. When he sang later in a concert celebrating

Labor Day, Ramy was only 10 years old and the 10,000 people which were present

there encouraged him to move on.At the age of 15, Ramy decided to participate in

a contest held every 4 years in the Lebanese TV Station: LBCI (Lebanese

Broadcasting Corporation International). And so it happened! In January 1996,

Ramy participated in a program called "Studio El Fann" and contestants were

presented to the audience in the presence of a 10-member committee who were all

specialized in art and music. From his first appearance, both the audience and

the committee were charmed by his talent on stage. At the end of the contest

lasting 9 months Ramy earned a golden medal, certificates from the members of

the committee, and his first private song" Bganneelah Webdeellah" which became a

hit even before the contest was over.

Although many might consider succeeding in this program as the culmination of

their goal, to the young determined and ambitious Ramy it was just the

beginning. From that period on, Ramy started his career as a singer and a whole

world of opportunities was opening up to him. The respect Ramy has for art and

his continuous search for the best made him an "amazing phenomenon" in the eyes

of many people worldwide.

Being a Lebanese singer who has drawing skills, Ramy has been honoured by the

Lebanese Ministry of Education and Tourism on Feb.24, 1999. As a result of a

survey conducted in most Lebanese radios and TV stations through public voting,

Ramy has been hailed the Most Photogenic Male Artist in the Middle East. A

special festival was held on May 9,1999 by the Lebanese Ministry of Education

and Tourism for the occasion in which an Oscar was presented to him.
