Los Angeles based Raining Jane established a name for themselves with years of touring. From 2004-2009 they played 120+ shows per year, all independently booked and managed. In 2007 their career took a turn when they began writing with Jason Mraz, a creative collaboration that continues to the present day. Raining Jane and Mraz co-wrote the song "A Beautiful Mess" which appears on his album "We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things." Raining Jane has had songs placed on "Grey's Anatomy" and "So You Think You Can Dance." And they've played on records by other artists such as Willy Porter. In addition to their musical work as a band, Raining Jane has strived to make a difference through community building and outreach. In 2010 they helped establish Rock n' Roll Camp for Girls Los Angeles, a non-profit dedicated to empowering girls through music education.
Raining Jane's latest album is called "The Good Match," released in July of 2011. The band started laying down tracks with producer Michael "Smidi" Smith in the fall of 2010, but it wasn't until early spring of 2011 that they decided to make a record. They knew they wanted to finish it in time to take on their summer tour opening for Sara Bareilles. The tight timeline turned out to be a very productive tool and the band ended up making an album they all love, recording nine originals and one cover, "Love Is A Battlefield," the Pat Benetar classic. Other highlights include contributions by a few super talented friends. Meg Toohey (The Weepies) plays guitar, lap steel and keys on some songs, and Jason Mraz co-produced and played melodica on the song, "From Me To You."
