Formed in 1980, in the early 90's the band line up consists of Alessandro TRONCO Tronconi on vocals, Luciano Tattini on guitar, Alessio AMOS Amorati on solo guitar, Gianni GINO Zenari on the bass and Andrea MARIO Baldi on drums. This is where the new RAIN begins, taking it from the local to the national level thanks to continuing live playing, several radio appearances, various compilations and two full length albums over the course of 7 years. Between the end of '99 and the beginning of the new millennium, their album "Bigditch 4707" was released and distributed by the greek label ETERNAL SHADOWS (1000 copies, now sold out!)
In order to promote "Bigditch" the band played anywhere from Brindisi (2° IMA METAL FEST) to Milan and Turin, sometimes in support of established acts such as PAUL DI ANNO (Iron Maiden's first and historical frontman).
In 2002 the band signed a two albums deal with the french label DEADSUN RECORDS and in 2003 "Headshaker" was released featuring 11 tracks and an innovative multimedia element (including the MP3's of the tour with Paul Di Anno) and was distributed all over the world (in Italy through Self, licensed by Rising Works) receiving enthusiastic press (some of the best reviews ever written about Rain).
The "Headshaker Tour 2003/2005" kept the band busier than ever for over a year with over 50 dates as headliners or in support of big names such as MICHAEL SCHENKER, UDO , IRON SAVIOR, HELSTAR and many others. Amongst the many concerts of that tour, the highlight was probably their performance at AREZZO LOVE WAVE 2005 as the METAL HAMMER magazine pick or the memorable show in Slovenia at the METAL CAMP 2005 sharing the stage with EXCITER, ANTHRAX, MALMSTEEN, CHILDREN OF BODOM, SLAYER etc.
Work in progress.
In 2008, "Headshaker"'s successor, mastered in the US at OASIS MASTERING by Mr. Eddy Schreyer, comes out and marks a turning point: entitled "Dad is Dead" (AURAL MUSIC / AUDIOGLOBE), the new album comes with 12 unreleased tracks and one cover featuring a guest appearance by Steve Sylvester singing the famous song "Rain" by the Cult. The promotional tour for "Dad is Dead" takes Rain everywhere, from Finland along with Blaze Bayley (IRON MAIDEN singer from 1994 to 1999) to a month long US tour with W.A.S.P. (March 2010). The band's line also changes with the addition of Francesco Grandi on vocals and Massimiliano Scarcia on guitar.
After their US tour, to celebrate 30 years of Rain, the band releases a DVD entitled "Rain Come Back aLive" (LM RECORDS / CROTALO ed. musicali), featuring a live appearance in Russi (Ra) on the 1st of May 2010 and a rich report on their experience overseas.
In October 2010 the song "Love in the back" is used as main theme for "Sport Club Late Show", an italian sport show on Odeon TV.
In November the celebration for the 30th anniversary goes on and finds it's best during the show at Kememeo (BO) - Italy, where the band organized the biggest Rain Crew Convention ever made, where all the old band members and special guests joined Rain on stage.
2011/2012 - Everything is ready for the new album titled "XXX", a sort of "best of" with the best song of the first 30 years of activity re-recorded and re-interpretated by the new line up. All the good vibrations of that period culmiate in the new "XXX TOUR", the beginning of a new era around all Italy and Europe, with the first gig set in Tilburg (Holland).
And the story goes on
