Raffaele Diomaiuto is an Italian guitar player, living in mainly beetween Amsterdam and Hollywood. Now 26, he has played guitar since he was 14. Raffaele has been studying in Italy and in the U.S in Los Angeles. While attending GIT he won the Stanley Clarke Scholarship, capturing the first prize, playng with his jazz fusion trio.
Raffaele Diomaiuto was born and raised in Southern Italy in a small town near Naples.
When he was 16 years old, his father gave him a classic guitar but he did not even start to use it until 9 months later. One day while at a friends house, all these guys he knew started to play their guitars and make incredible music Raffaele had only heard on CD's before and that is what inspired the young guitar player to learn more.
It was not until he saw a DVD of G3, and I realized how incredible Joe Satriani and Steve Vai were before he finally realized how much he had to push himself to achieve the excellence of musicianship attained by such six string greats.
At the end of summer 2006 Raffaele moved to Los Angeles, over there he went to the Musicians Institute in hollywood to finally pursue his dreams.
The experience at MI really changed his life, having the opportunity to be surrounded by music 24/7 , being exposed to so many different styles his musicianship grow fast as his mind was opening to new sounds and styles.
Among all the others great theachers at Musicians institute, he studyed with people like Scott Henderson, Alex Macacheck, and had the opportunity to jam with so many great musicians (like Paul Gilbert, u can find a video on youtube about that jam) .
While Raffaele was enrolled at M.I. he started to think to build up a Trio, with the idea of tryn to have a big component of improvvisation in the songs to keep always open the comunication beetween the musicians to make something special everytime .
So after few rehearsal he builded up his first trio with former MI students Roberto Cerletti on drums and August Arrowsmith on bass. Playng with them his origianl composition in fall of 2007 he won the first prize of the stanley clarcke scholarship, playng in front of stanley clarcke himself.
In summer 2008 after the graduation from Musicians Institute Raffaele toured the U.S.Southeast with the band Mighty Mcfly as session guitarist.
Once the tour was done he went back to L.A. where raffaele was working as session player for many different artists, as well as keeping on playng his music with the Trio around the samll L.A. jazz Clubs.
Then in spring 2009 he moved to London until the end of the summer then moved back to Italy to to write and start to record his first solo album called "So Far".
So Far was recorded in Italy in 3 days in the beautiful Play Wawe Recording Studio in a gorgeous little town near Rome.
The Trio this time had former Greg Howe drummer Gianluca Palmieri on drums and Guerino Rondolone on Bass, the funny part is that Gianluca as well was at Musicians Institute with Raffaele and even the owner of the studio Matteo Torrisi.
Listening the album you can get the influences of those years in L.A. especially Michael Landau and Scott Henderson.

Once the album was complete Raffaele went to L.A, to promote it and play some shows. This May he moved back to Europe and currently resides in Amsterdam. Raffaele also teaches guitarlessons at The Guitar Academy (http://www.guitaracademy.nl).
