"The problem is if you don't say anything to people - they place you. They own you, they say who you are, but, then if you start to steer them it can feel at least a little like you're just propaganda. It becomes an issue of creating the false. It's pre-meditated. You're trying to steer people, you're manipulating them." - Ian MacKaye (Minor Threat, Embrace and Fugazi)

"Treat everyone with as much respect as he/she/they deserves (and no more)." - Steve Albini (Big Black, Rapeman and Shellac)

QwEEK¬ is what it is.(and it's spelt QwEEK¬, nothing else will suffice)

thus far the following has been said about us by others.

"Having taken over headlining responsibilities at the last minute, Stroud's QwEEK take to the stage with their own brand of musical insanity.

Treading the fine line between disarray and abstract magnificence they make frequent lapses into both territories. One minute tripping in to unfocused noise, the next striding into moments of pure genius.

Having a sound that sits between the devastatingly heavy jazz-metal of Candiria and the asylum-bound lunacy of Oxbow, with a few more gigs under their belt they will undoubtedly present a force to be reckoned with.

There are few more challenging styles of music, but QwEEK deserve to be huge." - Mark James, who reviewed our gig at the 2 Pigs on 22/02/07 for Unplugged in the newspaper the Gloucestershire Citizen

"One of Gloucestershire's most challenging, experimental and thought provoking bands." - FUSE magazine (www.myspace.com/fuseweb)

""QwEEK¬ - when you hear bands saying "you will either love us or hate us", you know that 9 times out of 10 they are lying and they are bland. QwEEK¬ on the other hand are the 1 out of 10 that will genuinely evoke that kind of feeling. They sound somewhere in the middle of Placebo, Birthday Party, Napalm Death and Blur (is there a middle in all that???). whether you love or hate them, you will watch most of their set open mouthed. A definite spectacle, and a sound band!" - Mark - Veer Luth (www.myspace.com/veerluth)

it's not all bad though.

"At times you can hear that you each play well, but you're too loud - you could danger the viewing publics safety if you don't monitor your levels. Bass guitar sounds like Stranglers. Lead guitarist can perform - not afraid to move. Vocals = strong. You are obviously very passionate about what you do, but you do seem to be aiming for a limited market. You must be prepared to be offended by the response." Audition Panel Feedback from The Door Undiscovered Youth Talent Contest - [we laughed and laughed]

"Faggot, Faggot, Faggot, Faggot, and fat blonde Faggot!" - The Shotguns (www.myspace.com/thepopgunsmusic) - proving that just because you're a benign unoriginal prettyboy indie band it doesn't mean you can't be homophobic. What nice boys, your parents must be so very very proud of you. R.I.P. The Shotguns, leaving behind a musical legacy sure to outlast us all

"You head-butt the floor, tell everyone you try to commit suicide and think that being camp will make you more interesting.OK the rest I can cope with, but the emergency services are stretched enough without you making their lives more difficult." - Kang - (www.myspace.com/fuzzmusic)
