Qumulus has, and continues, to explore the full circumference of music that the world has to offer.

With over fifteen years and hundreds of club sets (national and international) under his belt he has matured into a producer/dj/remixer and all around party animal.

Having cut his teeth as a hip hop and house dj playing at the local raves in his native West London he has moved from genre to genre progressively absorbing and assimilating the eclecticism of the dance music scene never ignoring the fact that music has formed the backbone to his life throughout.

From hosting his own shows (Atmosphere show – Life Fm) on London’s myriad of pirate (and commercial) stations to organising his own residencies (Subsonic) and playing at several others and entering festival line ups (Bloom Festival), he remains a busy figure within the dance music scene. Drawing on a very broad spectrum of influences, Qumulus has progressed to production work on which he has engaged his efforts for the last several years turning over no less than a dozen 12” releases on a variety of labels, some more esteemed than others (Vibez Recordings, Zen Recordings, Tellluric Recordings, Vampire and Influenza Media. The future looks set to be an even bigger year for him with yet more great releases forthcoming on well respected drum and bass labels and yet more (International) studio collaborations with other fast rising drum and bass stars. You may recall him from the days of touring with Nookie’s Atmosphere Sessions where he was a resident and also toured with the label before parting to pursue his own musical projects.

The success of his foray into the drum n bass scene has taken him on a rollercoaster ride on which he remains to this day, still producing drum n bass commenting:

“…at some point, a journey back into my house, hip hop, soul and nu jazz roots is inevitable. I can only go forward by looking back, subconsciously my past experiences and influences profoundly influence the way I perform, the way I write, the way I live…I’m incapable of working artistically without being at least in some way influenced by my past”

Having gained support on commercial music radio BBC Radio 1xtra shows and completed a number of collaborations with international artists (Cybass (Brazil), Jett (Florida), Flaco (Miami), Atmospherix (Belgium), Dj Clart (Singapore), Champagne (Finland)) he continues in his quest to work with new and promising vocalists and musicians.

Nonetheless his portfolio of achievements continues to grow. Having more recently successfully hosted his own big room drum and bass residency (Subsonic) he continued residencies at drum n bass’s favourite veteran label Vibez Recordings’ monthly session (“Acoustixx Live”) in London’s thriving East End in Brick Lane with which label he also tours Europe, in addition to co running other new drum and bass residencies and more recently joining forces with London’s fast rising deep/tech house and breaks crew Dim Sum, made up of dj/producers and promoters, where he is given the opportunity to display his house and breaks sets at their offshoot night (“Tailspin”) on a regular basis. He is, as they say, a man with his finger in many pies indeed!

2010 has seen yet more progression to his music endeavours with no less than three residencies under his belt and just as many singles forthcoming. Having spent most of that year promoting and dj’ing, he still slipped in the occasional a release which can be tracked down through the likes of Chemical, beatport and Juno to name but a few.

Expect more releases from Qumulus in the coming year, expect more club appearances and more European tours. As many would say, there is no rest for the wicked, but as Qumulus likes to say: “Ill sleep when im dead…but before then, ill party”.
