PURPLE

Originaire de Montpellier, Purple s'initie aux platines en 1993 et cotoie quelques sounds systems du sud de la France jusqu'à la rencontre en 1997 d'un collectif d'artistes pluridisciplinaires au sein duquel il réside en tant que Dj, performer et organisateur.

En 2002, il intègre le collectif Clafooti avec qui il organise des soirées (Clip, Kitchen of Groove) mélant performances Dj, live et vidéos.

Parallèlement, il crée en octobre 2003 le label Clafooti Records.

Côté production, il réalise un featuring sur le 1er vinyl du label (plébiscité par Keith Tenniswood et Andrew Weatherall) et sort un titre sur la compilation Clafooti et un autre prévu sur la troisième sortie du label, en compagnie de UssF et James Taylor (Swayzak).

Jusquà ce jour, Purple joue sur les scènes françaises et catalanes, dans différents bars, galeries, clubs et festivals entre Paris, Bordeaux, Lyon, Montpellier et Vilajuiga (Baloard, Mix Koffee, Roxtore, Villa Rouge, Hérétic, BT 59, Kitchup, DV1, Rachdingue, Plagess, Nuits Sonores-2004/2005/2006-.) partageant l'affiche de Dj's comme Cabanne, Ark, Krikor, Seuil, Steve Bug, James Taylor, Swayzak, Kiki. En 2004, il sera élu "coup de coeur" du circuit électronique lors du festival Nuits Sonores.

Dans une optique de renouvellement ses sets dj variés, à la fois subtils, groovy et chaloupés sont un patchwork de sons minimalistes évoluant vers différents horizons musicaux comme la house, le break, l'électro et la techno.

Purple, from Montpellier (in south of France), started DJ-ing as early as 1993 and became a familiar presence behind the decks of various local soundsystems before joining a pluridisciplinary artistic collective in 1997 in which he acted as DJ, performer and event organiser until 2001.



In 2002 he became a member of the Clafooti collective and started promoting various regular nights (Clip and Kitchen Grooves) featuring live and DJ sets as well as video performances.

In october 2003, he founded the Clafooti Records label. On the production side of things, one of his tracks features on Clafootis first EP (2003) and he also signed his own track on the Clafooti Compilation (2005). Two more tracks of his feature on the latest EP beside UssF and James Taylor (Swayzak), due out in January 2007.



So far, Purple has been DJ-ing in many different clubs or venues across France and Spain, from Paris, Montpellier to Lyon, Bordeaux and Vilajuiga (Baloard, Mix koffee, Villa rouge, Roxtore, Hérétic, BT 59, Kitchup, DV1, Rachdingue, Plagess, Nuits Sonores 2004/2005/2006.) alongside other DJs such as Cabanne, Ark, Krikor, Seuil, Steve Bug, James Taylor, Swayzak, Kiki. He was also singled out as the Best Revelation DJ for the Nuits Sonores Festival in 2004.



Constantly looking for new directions to spice up his sets loved for their subtle, groovy and bouncing sounds, Purple is always keen to blend his minimalism with house, break, electro, techno, you name it.
