100% Tierra Caliente

Tierra Caliente, ubicada a cinco horas de la Ciudad de México, es cuna de una gran tradición musical, y a pesar de su belleza no es muy conocida en la República Mexicana. Como muchas regiones, sus límites no corresponden a las demarcaciones políticas, porque incluye zonas de los estados de Guerrero, Michoacán y del Estado de México.



Tierra Caliente – a hotlands area located four or five hours from Mexico City – is home to a beautiful musical tradition that is still little known even in Mexico. Like many cultural regions, its boundaries do not coincide with the political ones that create 31 political entities. The largest portion of the area is in Guerrero, a state better know for the famous beach resort of Acapulco. It also takes in a corner of Michoacán state and a tiny sliver of the State of Mexico. The trip begins in Zitácuaro, Michoacán, a town considered one of the gateways to Tierra Caliente.
