PURE RUBBISH began in late 1995 when brothers Derek and Evan were only 11 and 9 years old!! The bands first show was a KISS tribute concert with their dad taking over on vocals, Willie "Punkdaddy" Dunivan (Ex-PERSONALITY CRISIS/current-TRASH CAN PUNCH). Since those humble beginnings, the band has played countless energetic shows and has been on 5 US tours and 1 UK tour. The boys have appeared on Ozzfest 2001 in addition to opening shows for the likes of AC/DC, MOTORHEAD, NASVILLE PUSSY, the SUPERSUCKERS, etc. The band has also appeared in publications such as ROLLING STONE, SPIN, METAL EDGE, GUITAR WORLD, etc. along with being seen on MTV, VH1, and on the 2002 MTV MOVIE AWARDS backing KELLY OSBOURNE. Pure Rubbish had released 2 independent records, 1998's "HEAVY TRASH DAY" 7" EP and 2000's "TEJAS WASTE" CD EP, with Punkdaddy on vocals, before signing to Divine Recordings (Sharon Osbournes now defunct record label) in late 2000. With Derek Dunivan getting passed down the vocal duties, Pure Rubbish recorded their debut album "GLAMOROUS YOUTH" (produced by Mike Clink who also produced GUNS N ROSES "Appetite For Destruction") in late 2000/early 2001. The album was never officially released by Divine and can now only be found on eBay or through contacting the band at jttrash00@yahoo.com. Divine did however release 4 songs from the "Glamorous Youth" sessions as the "Pure Rubbish" EP in 2001 which can still be found easily at cdnow.com or eBay. In 2002, the band continued to play shows while working on new material for an aborted second album which was to be a re-recording of "Glamorous Youth" with newly written songs. The plan slowly faded away as the members were eventually split into 2 different camps concerning what they wanted to do musically. The band officially split up in April 2003 with Derek and Evan continuing to pursue their musical abilities in their band PENNYROYAL, and Jarrett and Mike forming the URGENCIES in summer 2003 with Al G. and Shawn. (Al G., Mike, and Shawn had all previously played together in their teen years in the Houston punk band TEEN COOL between 1994-2002). With each passing year, Pure Rubbish continues to gain new fans worldwide for their catchy, sleazy hard rock!! Be sure to get in touch with the band to check out their music and CDs!!
