Punky Sensei is powerful 8-bit music created by a teacher.



Punky Sensei is a French-Japanese musical project composed of Sebastian and Kiraku. This exploding duo, dressed as teacher and student, deliver fast tempo 8-bit music on stage mixing together English, Japanese, and French lyrics.



Punky Sensei is a collision of cultures between France and Japan, between a teacher and his student, between an electronic composer and a crazy dancer. It is homage to Japanese animation and old-school video gaming.



BIOGRAPHY

School opened in France.

Punky Sensei is an electronica music project created by Sebastian Beaumont. Mr. Beaumont is a pianist with an interest in music composition and live performance; his day job really is teaching public school in France. In 2007 he set out to bring his profession and his passion together through powerful performance of 8-bit music on stage by Punky Sensei.from that moment on, class has been in session.



Exchange Student encounter in Japan.

During a live performance in Japan back in 2008 Sebastian met Kiraku, a Japanese female singer and dancer. They decided then and there to mix their worlds and perform together on stage. This union provided the opportunity to increase Punky Sensei’s musical breadth and stage show. Japanese animation, movies, and videogames have since been canonized by Punky Sensi as exemplified by the track « Jumping to the ring » that melds the RING movies and Sonic the Hedgehog. Tracks such as « Music lesson » are written in kiddish Japanese, bringing a kindergarten mood to Punky Sensei's show.

Currently, Sebastian lives in Lille, France performing live music, composing, and teaching for his Punky Sensei project.
