Created in 2001, Pública appeared since its start as an authorial band. Encouraged by the British bands of 90’s, such as Oasis, Supergrass and The Verve, which revitalized the sound of classic bands as Beatles and Rolling Stones, Pública comes to prove through their albums that it is possible to conciliate classic and current references to create its own music.
Although the band was born in the beginning of the new century, it wasnt until 2006 that they released their first record: Polaris. Through it the band gained importance in the national scene, with the Rolling Stone Brazil magazine making an absolutely flattering critique and suggesting that “Pública is ‘the next big thing' of the Brazilian rock”, highlighting that the band was a mix between Beatles, psychedelic and British rock.
Along with the prestige achieved through several positive press reviews after the first album, came a series of shows in festivals throughout the country. While they promoted their “Save LP's Tour” at Brazilian capitals, the band produced their three video clips extracted from the premiere album: Polaris, Lugar Qualquer (which makes a pretty homage to Porto Alegre, home city of the band), and Long Plays, that assured the band an indication to the VMB – MTV’s Brazilian Music Awards.
In 2008 the band isolated itself in an adapted home studio at the countryside to record Como num Filme sem um Fim (As in a Film without an End), their second album. With the pretension to make a great record that sounded pop yet obscure and intriguing, Pública spent months finishing it. In January 2009 the album is released and the repercussion is immediate. The most important local journal, Zero Hora, emphasizes that “with the launching of Como num Filme sem um Fim, Pública firms itself as one of the most important bands of the new Brazilian rock” and it continues: “bands with half the quality of arrangements, originality, density and inspiration of Pública have already received this label. The songs of the new album have an incredible pop appeal, with a sound that does not find parallel in another Brazilian band.”
The Rolling Stone Brazil confirmed its admiration with another positive critique. The magazine defines the record as “mature, well finished and ambitious” and suggests that “the band has everything to outstand in the national pop scene”.
At this moment Pública starts the new album’s tour and prepares to film the first video of the single Casa Abandonada.

Com o prestígio em alta devido as diversas matérias que saíram na imprensa elogiando o primeiro álbum, a banda partiu para uma seqüência de shows em festivais por todo país. Enquanto divulgava sua “salvem os Lp’s Tour” pelas capitais brasileiras, a banda se preocupava com a gravação de videoclipes: foram 3 extraídos do álbum de estréia, sendo eles Polaris, Lugar Qualquer (clipe que faz uma bonita homenagem para Porto Alegre, cidade dos cinco integrantes), e Long Plays, vídeo clipe que trouxe à banda uma indicação ao VMB – prêmio realizado anualmente pela MTV brasileira.
Em 2008 a banda se fechou em um estúdio no interior do seu estado para gravar Como num Filme sem um Fim, seu segundo álbum. Com a pretensão de lançar um grande disco, que ao mesmo tempo soasse pop incluísse uma parte bastante ousada e sombria, a Pública passa meses terminando este segundo trabalho.
Em janeiro de 2009 o disco é lançado e a repercussão é imediata. O jornal local mais importante, Zero Hora, destaca que “com o lançamento de Como num Filme sem um Fim, a Pública se firma como uma das mais importantes bandas do novo rock brasileiro” e continua: “bandas com a metade de qualidade de arranjos, originalidade, densidade e inspiração da Pública tem recebido este selo. As canções do novo disco têm um incrível apelo pop, com uma sonoridade que não encontra paralelo em nenhuma outra banda brasileira.”
A Rolling Stone Brasil novamente mostra seu apreço pela música do grupo com uma crítica positiva que lembra que “a banda tem tudo para se destacar no cenário pop nacional”, chamando o disco de “maduro, bem acabado e ambicioso”.
No momento a Pública está iniciando a turnê de seu novo álbum e se prepara para gravar o clipe do primeiro single, Casa Abandonada.
