In 1993 No Tomorrow Records was created to put out the first album by Shock Treatment, a trio of teen punkrockers from the mediterranean city of Castelln, in Spain. The second release of the label, later that year, was the 3-song debut EP by their neighbours and friends (and even younger) Depressing Claim. Both bands went on to release a few albums and several singles, achieving a small but cultish following worldwide and by 1997 both were history.

Many of the members of those bands never quit music, though, and now some of the classiest punkrockers in town are back with a flashy new project under the name Prototipes. They are led by Luis (songwriter and guitar player of Depressing Claim, in Prototipes he plays guitar and sings, and is the main songwriter) and also feature Jose (leader, bassist and singer of Shock Treatment, he now plays bass, and writes and sings some songs) and Israel (drummer supreme also from Shock Treatment). The forth member is lead guitar player Nacho, who cut his teeth in Puetazo, another band from Castellon with a couple of split releases on our label.

With these credentials, its not unusual that Prototipes play that kind of melodic punkrock for which their older bands are remembered for, but make no mistake, this is a new band and it has its own sound, no second parts here. So, what do they sound like? Well, they sound GOOD, thats for sure. Luis provides wonderful sing-along power-pop gems and some excellent bittersweet midtempo melodic-punk worth the price of admission. Jose takes care of the snottier part of the deal, with four killer blasts of mean punknroll. Add a solid rhythm section and guitar lines traced with surgery precission and you get a start-to-finish enjoyable record. To make things sweeter, production duties relied on another veteran of the scene, their ex -mate Coky, guitar player and producer of label mates Suzy & Los Quattro.

In a line, a necessary listen for fans of the spanish punkpop sound of the 90s, and a recommended hear for anyone interested in classy punkrock.
