"I have infinite respect for any metal band that manages to scare me. Priapism scared me."

Dan Barry - Hartford Advocate

From the vibrant New England metal scene comes a four-piece juggernaut of outright heaviness and technical musicianship that must be heard and heard loudly to be believed.

New Havens Priapism made up of vocalist Paul Marak, drummer Alani Schaperow, guitarist Michael Schick, and bassist Brian Dawley ( Now replaced by Chad Rodriguez since marck of 08) have been playing and recording since 2001, and attempting to shatter the boundaries of conventional metal ever since. Combining influences of death metal, hardcore, funk-rock, and even jazz into their multilayered, dynamic, and often brutal songs, the quartet isnt bound by any particular genre or style theyre just dead-set on expanding their boundaries and playing the most powerful, hard-hitting music they can.

The band formed in 2000, with Marak and Schaperow as two of its founding members. They recorded three demos in the past five years at Full Force studio in Long Island NY. The first a five-song demo in 2003 with guitarist Mike Schick, guitarist Mike Schupp, and bassist Alejandro Chavez, and toured that material until Chavez and Schupp parted ways with the band the following year. Solidifying the lineup with Dawley on bass,we recorded again a four song demo in 05,and then the third demo in 07. Since then Priapism has stepped up their touring, regularly playing at such legendary venues as New Havens Toads Place , Hartfords Webster Theater and every bar, club, or hall inbetween. Their arsenal of intense, complex songs and their wildly energetic live show earned them, by popular vote, the title of Best Metal Band in Connecticut in the Hartford Advocates 2005 Best Of poll.

With a large following at home and a voracious drive to bring their music to the masses, Priapism is bound to leave its mark on metal one awestruck listener at a time.

"Uncompromisingly brutal but technically proficient as well Priapism is one of the New Haven areas best bets for heavy music."

Nick Scalia Play Magazine

"They cite bands such as Death, Martyr and Suffocation as inspiration, but drummer Alani Schaperow and guitarist Mike Schick could just as easily be calling on the detailed work of Cryptopsy or Origin."
