Cartel: A group of parties, factions, or nations united in a common cause



The Pretty Boy Cartel (PBC) is united in the common cause of producing body bouncing beats to seduce the limbs of anyone with ears. Electronic effusions similar to those of Nine Inch Nails are mixed with a jubilant jazz sound reminiscent of Jamiroquoi, producing velvety melodies that tether into sharp lyrics and rumbling beats at the edges.



The group is composed of two members: Owen Vallis (Production, vocals), and Dru Ridley (Vocals, production). Comparing tips over tables of stale Chinese food in downtown Nashville the two realized the dissonance of dining dim sum in the south, and instead decided to capitalize on the consonance of their musical personalities.



Dru Ridley, a Kentucky native, has played the piano since childhood, and roundabout the age of puberty discovered that singing had semi-phenomenal, nearly cosmic powers over the clothes of the girls he sung to. Dru has since been hard at work, singing under the influences of Brad Nowll, Tricky, Neptunes, PM Dawn, and Jason Kay (Jamaroquai), shaking rooms with the bass in several bands at FullSail in FL, and producing hip-hop projects on the side.



Owen Vallis cultivated incisive tonal instincts throughout his childhood in the bitter cold of Ontario, Canada. Moving to California, the block of analogue experiments stock piled on misnomer synthesizers thawed and inundated the underground rave scene of SF. After several years, Owen moved again to Nashville to work on self production. Soon thereafter local radio stations, local artists, Future Music, and a couple of Belgian producers noticed a certain basement studio swelling with rumbling tracks. Owen’s productions are now frequently played on the local radio, local and visiting artists frequent his studio, one of his tracks has been featured in Future Music, and another has been remixed in Belgium.



PBC currently plays at local venues throughout Nashville, and will be soon moving to L.A.
