PAST REDEMPTION Biography ( 2010) : Stefan (drums and ex-member of "Taran") and Deni (guitar) started the band in Sofia during the summer of 1992. Soon after, Ivan (bass) joined and was the vocalist during the early years. At the beginning of 1993, the young group recorded their first demo, which included 4 songs influenced by NAPALM DEATH. Playing in their studio at the same time was the band "Atentator". It split soon afterwards and the vocalist (Hristo) and one of the guitarists (Krasi) joined Past Redemption. With this line-up they began to work together on their first debut album "Decomposed". The album was recorded in just two weeks at Sofia's Studio City and it was categorized as grind/death metal. In 1993 the band really took off. They began to receive many invitations to perform in concerts and also released their album. It reached N 1 in the national chart and as a result, the band was invited to perform on the popular "Hit minus edno" show. The band recorded a song specially for the TV performance but at the last minute the organizers cancelled the broadcast due to its "aggressive sound and style". After this "set back", they began work on their second album and continued to perform in clubs around the country with "Nihilist", "Nice Side" and other popular bands at that time. In 1994 they recorded their second album "Useless Amputations", produced by Bobi Bonchev in the "Graffitti" studio. The line-up changes again when the vocalist Hristo is called to military service. In his place came Georgi who wrote 9 new songs and two remixes of the song "Passion". In August 1994 the 2nd album is complete and the band embarked on a new tour of Bulgaria. It turned out to be their last together because following this album, the band split. 10 years later, Stefan decided to resurrect the band and together with Krasi they began playing again but, they had difficulty selecting the other band members. After many unsuccessful auditions, along came Mitko (bass) and Dani (vocals) and with this line-up they began to play Sofia's clubs. They soon realized something was missing from their sound and they decided to bring Ivan into the band as a second guitarist.
In the spring of 2005 the new line-up recorded a third album "Forever Burning Scorn". It was recorded in the studio of "Ahat" band member, Tonto. Counter Attack Productions distributed the album and at the end of the year it was released nationally and worldwide. The album sold not only in Bulgaria but also in USA, Europe, South America, Russia and Japan. The single "Betrayed" and the video come from this album.
The band continued its creative activities and once again the line-up changed. In place of vocalist Dani came Blago and this remains the line-up today. The band moved up a gear and played together with many famous bands such as: NAPALM DEATH, OBITUARY, VADER, PUNGENT STENCH, SINISTER, DESTRUCTION, DISMEMBER, MARDUK. In 2007 they produced a concert DVD featuring the band live in Sofia plus lots of older material. In 2008 the band played many concerts and worked on the 4th album. They finished recording it at the end of 2009 but it remains unreleased whilst a label is decided. This 4th album includes the singles: "Unleashed emptiness," "Oblivious to pain," "Revelation" and videos to these songs. Past Redemption have begun 2010 with a bang, playing a big concert with VADER and MARDUK. Currently, they are inviting popular death metal vocalists, namely-Max Pain (THE REVENGE PROJECT), Kiro (HYPERBOREA), Gani (KOROZI), Mitko (EMBRACE BY DARK) to perform recent Past Redemption songs.
Since May 2010 Georgi Gagov (the original vocalist) has returned to the band and together the guys are continuing to perform live concerts.
