It happens every year; a new artist comes on the scene, blows up big and disappears just as fast as they showed up. Not the case with POWDA, a 25-year-old female rapper/singer from the sandy streets of Galveston, TX. “Over the last few years I haven’t put much material out - the situations just weren’t right,” Powda says. “But my fans have been waiting for my new stuff, they are still by my side and I’m forever grateful for that”.

At the age were many of us are playing high school sports or figuring out who we are taking to the prom, Powda was enjoying a number of hit songs on the radio. “During that time, my life changed. I had dropped out of high school before anything blew up and I ended up performing at the graduation ceremony for my old school!” Powda says. “I was signing autographs for my old friends like, SEE I TOLD YALL I WAS A FCK&N’ STAR!”

More recently, Powda created Angelic Records; a Houston based Record Label that overlooks everything from her online marketing to her new clothing line. “Basically, I wanted to be in control, of my music, my marketing and my career,” Powda explains. “There is no greater freedom for an artist, but to have their own label…if you can afford it.”



Current projects for 2008 include an online web show exposing her fans to her daily life called POWDA TV, and a new tape tape titled "FLOW" hitting the streets on 10-31-08.
