P. Jericho Biography



It isn’t often that you stumble upon someone that embodies great talent, intellect and character;

However, such attributes are abundant in the land of Jericho. P. Jericho is a welcomed return to soulful R&B. He began singing, like most of the R&B greats, in the church. Music was in his blood, as both his parents were active members of the church choir. As his name suggests, it wasn’t long before he followed in the family tradition. Jericho’s first memory of singing was at the tender age of four. From early on, the young vocalist developed a deep appreciation for beautiful harmonies and instrumentation.

A non-traditional upbringing split Jericho’s childhood between his hometown of Chicago and his native Cameroon. In 1999, Jericho accompanied his father’s choir for New year’s performance and took the stage with his first solo. “Oh Happy Day.” however, it would be sometime before the charismatic youngster would settle on music as his desired career.

After graduating from High school, Jericho attended Douglas College in Vancouver B.C. it was during this time that he made a trip to the local barber shop that changed the direction of his life. While waiting for a trim, his barber, who was intouch with several producers, tested his courage and asked him to sing infront of a number of clients. It was clear after that unrehearsed performance, that Jericho was a diamond in the rough. It was straight to the studio.

Jericho took to his new environment like fish to water, and has been in the studio ever since working on his debut album. Jericho hopes to follow in the footsteps of success of legendary singers like the late Great Michael Jackson, R. Kelly, Stevie Wonder, and Donny Hathaway. “I hope to represent the new hip hop style with old traditions of soulful music. I am a singer/writer first, and that’s what makes me different from many of the younger R&B male singers out today.”

Jericho’s true passion for the music is evident in his vocal arranging and writing ability. When asked what we can expect to hear on the upcoming debut, Jericho leaves it up to the music, “I plan on following the melody with the portrayal of real events and emotions that I have experienced in my life, which I hope will be relevant across generations.”

If his story thus far is any indication of the conclusion, P. Jericho is destined and well poised to become a star in his won right across generations.
