Seldom do bands survive through the torrent of member changes that PILOTS has weathered in its 7 year tenure. Starting out in the winter of 2002 as "When Sorrow Fails," which itself was a rising from the ashes of St. Louis punk/hardcore legends "Civil Authority," WSF quickly started playing shows locally and building a following while honing their sound. But it was not until the fall of 2004 with the addition of Chase Macri and Matthew Scheer on guitar that WSF's all-out dissonant aggression began to take shape and find a melodic voice.



Throughout the years, WSF saw two bass players, two singers and three drummers before settling on it's current lineup of Rob Muriel on vocals, Chase Macri on guitar, Matthew Scheer on bass and guitar, and Geoff Gracey on drums. The band has opened for As I Lay Dying, the Chariot, Poison the Well, has played Cornerstone, and toured the mid-west and the US south and have released three EPs independently (which can be downloaded for free from http://stlpilots.bandcamp.com/.)



PILOTS are currently hard at work writing new songs in preparation of a 2010 release that is sure to blow away old fans as well as impress new audiences. The songs are more aggressive, nuanced, faster, simpler in format but more technical in musical proficiency. The same intensity with a refreshed drive.
